MYSTERIES OF SPACE AND TIME

METEORITE COLLECTION

The 4-billion-year-old Gibeon meteorite, weighing between 50 and 70 tons, burst into smaller fragments high in the atmosphere and fell to Earth sometime between 10,000 and 30,000 years ago. Evan Yurman, David and Sybil’s son, and the company’s Chief Creative Officer, chose Gibeon meteorite for its unique markings and patterns—each specimen is beautifully one-of-a-kind. “There is a natural art to these pieces,” Evan explains. “Something that I didn’t have control over, and really nobody had control over.”

A photo collage juxtaposes three black-and-white images. On the left is a vintage photo of an astronaut saluting an American flag on the moon. The center photo shows a David Yurman band ring standing upright on top of a grey, rocky surface. The ring features a sterling silver interior and a faceted meteorite exterior. On the right, a photo shows a close-up image of the crosshatchings in Gibeon meteorite next to a black atomic symbol with “FE,” the David Yurman hallmark for meteorite.

FROM ACROSS

THE UNIVERSE

Like all iron meteorites, Gibeon contains remnants of the core portions of distant planets, but its exact origin in the universe is unknown. All David Yurman designs featuring the extraterrestrial material are engraved with an atomic motif and FE—the symbol for iron.

PRIMORDIAL MATERIALS

MODERN STYLE

Wearing meteorite, some of the oldest material known
to mankind, completes a universal connection with
time and space.

In 2004, the Namibian government banned the export
of Gibeon meteorite. Therefore, David Yurman only
uses specimens acquired before that date.
