At the David Yurman flagship in New York City, our artistic heritage meets the magic of the season in a captivating display. Near the corner of Madison Avenue, David Yurman 57th Street transforms into a festive world created in collaboration with Stefan Lubrina. The one-of-a-kind installation is inspired by Angels, a mixed-media painting created in 1978 by David and Sybil—one of their earliest collaborations, and a symbol of their shared artistic vision. For Sybil, a painter, and David, a sculptor, creativity has always been a shared language—the foundation of their lifelong collaboration rooted in art and love.
Inspired by the Yurman family’s lifelong devotion to art, Lubrina—a French scenographer renowned for his spectacular set designs—reimagined the flagship as a lived-in artist’s studio: dimensional, whimsical, and alive. The result is a celebration of the enduring collaboration between David, Sybil, and Evan Yurman—a family of artists whose creative spirit continues to shape every piece they create.
Lubrina’s storied career in the fashion world includes a long-time partnership working alongside the late Karl Lagerfeld. His vision offers a layered interpretation of The Joy of Extraordinary Memories, David Yurman’s holiday campaign that captures how jewelry becomes part of the moments we treasure most.
I envisioned a set somewhere between a New York loft, an artist’s studio, and a dreamlike universe for little treasures.
“From the street, the window display becomes a stage—an invitation to step inside this jewelry’s world,” Lubrina said. Within the boutique, the scenography unfolds across two floors, culminating on the mezzanine in what he calls “a full-size version of the loft glimpsed from the street—the same décor, but now traversable, welcoming, tangible.”
Throughout the imaginative setting, jewelry and gift boxes mingle with holiday ornaments, a glowing tree, and two renditions of David Yurman’s sculptures: After the Bathers (1975) and Icarus 5 (1973). Nearby hangs the mixed-media painting Angels (1978). For the Yurmans, angels have long embodied hope, optimism, and dreams—values that continue to shape their artistic vision.
