Exclusive Boutique Installations Developed In Collaboration With The Estate Of Roy Lichtenstein

New York, NY

David Yurman announces the brand’s collaboration with the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein in its sponsorship of Roy Lichtenstein: Like New, a major exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art celebrating one of the most influential American artists of the twentieth century. Through meaningful cultural partnerships, historic art restorations, and the support of philanthropic foundations, David and Sybil Yurman have established an enduring relationship with the global arts community in a conscious effort to keep creativity accessible to new audiences. The support of the Roy Lichtenstein: Like New exhibition at the Whitney reflects David Yurman’s commitment to supporting institutions and artists who have challenged convention through original creative expression. Lichtenstein’s bold approach to image-making and his ability to reconsider familiar visual language through a distinct lens resonates with David Yurman’s own design philosophy and artistic roots, David as a sculptor and Sybil a painter.   Opening October 11th, Roy Lichtenstein: Like New marks Lichtenstein’s first major solo museum exhibition in New York since 1993. Curated by Meg Onli, the Whitney’s Nancy and Fred Poses Curator, and artist Alex Da Corte, Guest Curator, the exhibition brings together more than 130 works spanning five decades of the artist’s career, from the 1940s through the 1990s, with particular focus on the groundbreaking work of the 1960s and 1970s. The exhibition will pair Lichtenstein’s most recognizable works with lesser-known pieces and archival materials, including works being shown publicly for the first time and various re-creations of important murals within Lichtenstein’s oeuvre. "Roy Lichtenstein pushed the boundaries of American art, taking something so familiar and making it feel completely new. We recognize that instinct very much. It's something that’s been a driving force in our work. That's why we are proud to partner with the Whitney Museum of American Art on Roy Lichtenstein’s exhibition, ‘Like New.’"  — David and Sybil Yurman   In celebration of the sponsorship, David Yurman has designed a series of boutique window installations, with the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein, inspired by works featured in Roy Lichtenstein: Like New. On October 2nd, the installations will be unveiled at David Yurman’s New York SoHo, Dallas NorthPark and Miami Design District locations. Each window offers a distinct interpretation of the exhibition, immersing elements of Lichtenstein’s visual language into the David Yurman retail environment. Graphic compositions, vivid color, pattern and scale create an immersive backdrop for the house’s jewelry, establishing a dialogue between Lichtenstein’s and the Yurmans’ approach to art and design.
